Make Your Own Electric Motor Car
September 9th, 2008 Filed Under General
Hybrid cars are among the fastest sellers of all times. The combination of electric and gasoline powered makes them among the most fuel efficient vehicles on the planet. But they are still just a stepping stone.
Today there are several start-up automobile or environmental science companies looking for venture capital to complete their all electric car projects. There are also some existing aftermarket mechanics setting up shop as local “backyard” conversion experts. Big or small, their goal is the same; to produce an all electric vehicle (ev).
The editors at We Make Hybrids just published an introduction to a family that worked out most of the problems the big guys are having nearly 15 years ago. That;s when Les and Jane Oke set out to “live off the grid.” Their goal was to become completely energy self-sufficient – without giving up any of the comforts that go along with energy consumption.
They worked out ways to generate their own heat and home electricity. Powering their car with electricity they generated themselves proved a little more difficult, but in the end they worked it out.
Their electric car had a top speed of 50 mph and a range of about 100 miles. That’s not far off from the performance of the new Zenn electric cars slowly spreading across the US from Canada. But with an average conversion cost way under $1,000 to the new Zenn costs of between $12-15,000 that’s where the similarity ends.
The Okes have recently ventured online to sell, not their cars, but the plans, equipment lists and instructions needed to convert any gas or diesel car, SUV or diesel to be an electric motor car. Here’s where you can read all about it.

Backing Up Your Computer Is a Must – Mozy Review
September 7th, 2008 Filed Under General
If you’ve never backed up your computer you’ll definitely want to start. You hear of people losing their files all the time, never to get them back again. Since you likely store a lot of information on your hard drive, could you imagine losing it all?
Thankfully, it’s now very easy to back up your computer. Gone are the days where you have to spend a ton of money on backups with expensive and difficult to use equipment. These days there are online backup solutions, such as Mozy, where all you need to do is download some software and everything is done for you.
There are many people who have never heard of this service because it is fairly new. Basically, companies have servers where members can store their information. These servers are super secure and safe. That means you can rest assured that your information will be safe even if your computer does crash.
Mozy is a backup solution that comes highly recommended, and it is under $5 a month! For the price of a large coffee you can rest easily at night knowing your backups are safe and sound. I don’t know about you, but I think that is an incredibly low price to pay for such an awesome service.

Background Checks For Technology Businesses
September 3rd, 2008 Filed Under General
In this article called “Free Criminal Background Checks – You need to know WHO you are hiring!” private investigator Jack Meyer goes through the reasons behind doing a thorough and really comprehensive background check on possible new employees and workers. This also includes nannies, babysitters, caretakers etc.
Way too often attacks or thefts come from a company’s own employees. You need to do thoroughly background checks. Business owners often believe that the main threats come from outside their businesses. They tend to believe that no one from within their own company would hurt them. Why should they when they love their boss and have a steady job to go to? Are you one of these company owners or bosses? Think again!
Actually, stats shows that the major risks comes from within your own ranks. Especially IT and business technology workers and developers are a severe threat, Here are some severe security threats that business technology employees may pose:
Business technology workers and IT personell represent some of the greatest security risks of all times. IT employees more than often work during hours when other employees are off work and often in restricted access areas. There are hundreds of "Background Checking" services online today but many of them are just scams or deliver incomplete reports or false information. I wouldn’t recommend going for any of the Free Criminal Background Checks but rather use a reliable website like Instant Background Search to do the job for you. It is becoming more and more accepted that employees bring work or work materials outside of their office to work from home, do some work on the train or while being on vaccation with their family.
Make sure that no important information, be it CD’s, data storage keys, hard-disks, computers et cetera leaves the company without knowing what is one them. Electronical information may be lost, or stolen. Someone may sell your business information in form of a CD and you will never know. Others may unintentionally put your business at severe risk by losing a computer on the train for instance. Make therefore sure that no important info leaves the company building and that all personell goes through comprehensive background checks.
Incase you are interested in more info on the theme you can also read this blog by another background check specialist on Free Criminal Background Checks.

September 1st, 2008 Filed Under General
Does it feel as though it is time to get a new computer? Are you tired and frustrated with dealing with a freezing computer and getting kicked off the internet. Maybe you can not even get online anymore. Well when I was suffering from a slow computer I looked up computer defragmentation and found out that this could easily speed up my PC. So I decided to give a try and amazingly it did speed up my computer quite a bit. You should know that if you do decide to defrag your system that you should do it overnight. Because depending on how long it has been since you have cleaned your system; chances are that there are a lot of files that need to be cleaned. However once it is defragged you can easily notice a speed increase of up to 125%. People everywhere neglect their systems and then they wonder why it does not work. Well the fact is that your computer has all kinds of tiny pieces in it that require maintenance. Unless you are truly ready to purchase a brand new system the freezing up of your PC is its way of letting you know that it requires attention.
